Mary K. Sandberg

Mary Kaye Sandberg: Funeral Director and Insurance Specialist

Mary Kaye was born and raised in North St. Paul and has never left. She is proud to be a lifelong resident of North St. Paul and enjoys the people and community spirit. She graduated North High School, class of 1978 and went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mortuary Science. She joined her family at Sandberg Funeral Home in January of 1988. She felt very blessed to have worked with her father until his death in 1998. When she is not working, she enjoys spending her time with her family and friends, traveling, hiking, working out, visiting her brother in California, golfing, and reminiscing with members of the community. She is a proud member of North St. Paul Lion’s Club, Women to Women Housing, North St. Paul Business Association, and Church of St. Peter Finance Committee.


Paul Sandberg

Paul Sandberg

Paul was born and raised in North St. Paul, the oldest of four children. He played hockey for the Polars, graduating from North High School in 1976. Paul has two children Mark and Nikki, one granddaughter Violet. He enjoys time with his family, riding his motorcycle, going to the gym and being active in the community.


Tim Tarmann

Tim Tarmann: Funeral Director

Tim was raised in Toluca, Illinois and from the time he was 12 years old wanted to be a funeral director.Tim graduated from high school and made his way to Minnesota to attend the University of Minnesota.He graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mortuary Science.The last semester of his studies, he served his Practicum assignment at Sandberg Mortuary in North Saint Paul, learning and working under Paul and Bill Sandberg.During this time, he learned how important the community of North Saint Paul was to each of them and the importance of being compassionate, understanding, and sensitive to each family’s needs.

In his free time, Tim enjoys being at home, cooking and entertaining, taking drives in the 1949 Mercury coupe that is in the process of restoration, traveling, and making new friends.He is proud to be the father of two adult children and a grandfather to two grandsons.


Alicia Moran-Lopez

Alicia Moran-Lopez: Support Staff

Alicia, a North St. Paul native and graduate of North High School, currently resides in North St. Paul with her husband, son and grandsons. She is Mexican/Latina and speaks Spanish fluently. She came to Sandberg Funeral Home in 1990. Outside of work, she enjoys jazz dancing, Mexican folklore dancing, theatre, fishing, movies, motorcycle rides, traveling when able, bowling, working out at the gym, warm sun filled days and bonfire nights with her family and friends.


Alexa Krueger Sandberg

Alexa Krueger Sandberg: Administrative and Funeral Director Assistant

Alexa grew up in North St. Paul and attended St. Peter Catholic school and then North High School and graduated in 2012. After she attended beauty school in Minneapolis, she moved to Southern California for 6 years. She moved back home to North St. Paul in February 2020. She enjoys going out to dinner, the movies, traveling, and relaxing to a good Netflix series.


Alexa Krueger Sandberg

Cheryl Klessel: Funeral Director Assistant

Cheryl was born and raised in Minnesota. Cheryl grew up in North St. Paul and graduated from North High School in 1984. She has two children and eight grandchildren. Cheryl's interests include riding her motorcycles, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Cheryl found her calling when she was given the opportunity to work at Sandberg Funeral Home. "I love working with all of our families knowing that I helped them through a very difficult time in their life.""


Dale Bachmeier: Funeral Director

Dale has been a funeral director for 20 years. He is married and lives with his wife and four children in Mendota Heights. His hobbies include woodworking, biking, singing, gardening, and camping with his family. Dale is fluent in Spanish and spent years living in Peru.

Sonya Monzel: Funeral Director

Sonya graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Mortuary Science. She has been at Sandberg Funeral Home since 1998. She has been married for 20 years and currently lives with her husband in Falcon Heights. In her spare time, Sonya enjoys landscaping, beading, and all animals.

Dawn Mulvihill: Support Staff

Dawn was born and raised in North St. Paul. She currently lives here with her husband and two children. Dawn enjoys going to her childrens softball and baseball games and camping with her family.

Keith Krause: Support Staff and Insurance Specialist

Keith is originally from Roseville and he currently lives in Maplewood with his wife Karen. They have three married sons and five grandchildren. Keith has 16 years of experience with Sandberg Funeral Home and has worked full time as an account executive at Brown-Bigelow Promotional Products for 20 years as well. People knew him as the North St. Paul snowman mascot for over 14 years. When not working, he loves to spend time with his grandchildren. He is a dedicated volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America where he is an Eagle Scout and also received the prestigious Silver Beaver award recognition.
