Philpot, Dow Edward (Ed) World War II Veteran & Retiree of the St. Paul Pioneer Press Dispatch Age 84 of Oakdale Died peacefully on April 2, 2011 in Apache Junction, AZ. Preceded in death by his loving father and mother, Hugh and Hallie Philpot. Beloved husband of Catherine, his wife of 38 years. So devoted to each other, the love they shared was the envy of everyone who knew them. This commitment was the glue they needed to raise their blended family of (9) children. Their children, Brad Hamilton Philpot, Ed (Jacquelyn) Philpot, Devee Joy, Karen Philpot, Mary (Tim) Alvar, Charles (Samantha) Richards, Jeanette (Joseph) Shelton, James (Jacqueline) Richards and Susan (Joe) Bissen. Loving grandfather to (21) grandchildren, John, Amy, Quentin, Ben, Oliver, Nina, Matthew, Laura, Madeline, Teesha, C.J., Taren, John, Diane, Joseph, Michael, Jacob, Melissa, Andy, Nick and Katie. Great-grandfather to, Lexi and Lilly. He was a wonderful brother to his sisters Elese Meadows, Opal Kristich and Mary Helen Lowe. A talented and gifted artist, kind and gentle, a best-friend and soul mate to his wife, are just a few words to describe this wonderful man. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Services will be held on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 10:30 am at SANDBERG FUNERAL HOME, 2593 E. 7th Avenue, North St. Paul, MN 55109, with visitation one hour before the service. Interment to follow with full military honors at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
