Obituary of Maureen Ann Hughes

Maureen Ann Hughes, age 87, passed away September 3, 2021. Devoted Catholic, wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother. Preceded in death by husband, Donald William, loving spouse of 60 years & granddaughter, Meghan Maureen Salchow. Survived by children Catherine (Gregory) Salchow, Donald (Michele) Hughes, Colleen (Dennis) Piechowski; nine grandchildren Connor, Colin & Maura Salchow; Michael, Maria & David Hughes; Mackenzie (Zachary) Leverty, Michaela (Daniel) Goldenstein & Matthew Piechowski; great granddaughter Addison Leverty. Graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy & the 1955 College of St. Catherine Nursing Program, longtime OB/GYN RN at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Maureen enjoyed travel, especially her trips to New York City, ceramics & crafts, spending time with family & sunsets at the cabin. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday (9/14) 11:00 AM at PRESENTATION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1725 Kennard St., Maplewood. Family interment Guardian Angels Cemetery. Visitation Monday (9/13) 4-7 PM at SANDBERG FUNERAL HOME, 2593 E. 7th Ave., North St. Paul, & one hour prior to Mass at church.
