Carol came into our lives when my younger brother, sister & I were children. Just a teenager, she was the most beautiful woman I could ever imagine, both inside and out, and a true light in our lives. She and my brother Jerry were so deeply in love, and soon we had a sister-in-law! They provided unfathomable help to our mom, a single woman with three young children. She gave us so many gifts, especially teaching us to hug, and to love each other, to be happy and to laugh.
Over decades, Carol and I became extremely close. Though we didn't have the opportunity to get together all that often, we had so many lengthy phone calls over decades, sharing, laughing, crying, and then laughing a whole lot more. Often we talked about the afterlife, and she looked forward to what that would be for her. She persevered through the beyond difficult last years of her life with hers and Jerry's extreme health struggles, and then his death. Though she was filled with love for her children, grandchildren and all who knew her, she often shared with everyone that she just wanted to be with Jerry. Her display of strength the last few years, exhibiting sheer will to share herself with those she loved is a true testament of who she is.
She has now been set free to follow the path she imagined. And for all of us who cannot fathom her being away, as many of us have said...there are no words. The greatest comfort is knowing that she lives on pain free, in true peace and profound joy. She lives on in each one of us who shared her love.
I love her deeply. We all do.
