Waldo Martin Dohman

Age 97, of Lester Prairie, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2023 under the wonderful care of the staff at Bridgewater in Janesville, MN. 

Waldo was born on April 27, 1925 to Frank and Lydia (Klatt) Dohman. He was baptized in 1925 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and later confirmed in the same church in 1939. Waldo served as a Marine in the South Pacific during WWII. Waldo married Glorian Eileen Klabunde on August 24, 1945 at Glencoe Missouri Lutheran Church and they were blessed with one daughter, Sandra Lynn. Waldo joined the St. Paul Police Department in January 1954 and retired 32 years later. Glorian passed away on January 22, 1986 and Waldo was blessed to find love again and married Kathryn Marie Wagner (Huemoeller) on July 25, 1986.  

Waldo lived a long and fulfilling life. He loved God with all his heart, and regularly told people that God had been with him all his life. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in North St. Paul. Waldo had amazing stories that will be told for generations to come, was incredibly humble, and was focused on ensuring he followed his father's instructions - to not tarnish his good name. Waldo succeeded in that mission and has left an incredible imprint on many hearts that can never be replaced. 

Waldo is survived by his brother, Wallace; three grandchildren, Jonathan Paulson, Bethany (Tim) Hansen, and Heather Paulson; 4 great-grandchildren, Logan Hansen, Ezekiel Holmes, Dylan Hansen, and Emily Hansen. He also had several nephews that admired and respected him. Waldo is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren from Kathryn's family. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, his daughter, his sister, Gloria Mathews, and his brother, Glover. 

Funeral Service at 12 PM on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Sandberg Funeral Home (2593 E. 7th Av., No. St. Paul) with visitation one hour prior. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery, St. Paul.
