Obituary of George Shetka

Shetka, George, age 91, died peacefully in his sleep on April 14, 2024 at Our Lady of Peace in St. Paul, MN after a courageous battle with stomach cancer.

Visitation & Celebration of life will be held at Sandberg Funeral & Cremation Services on Friday, May 3 from 9:30am-Noon. Interment will be held privately.

George Shetka was born October 24, 1932 to Rudolph and Christina (Holey) Shetka in Montgomery, MN. He attended Country School near Greenleaf Lake up until the 8th grade. Shortly after he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served 3 years from 1952-1954. After his service in the military, George worked at Armour's Meats in South St. Paul and then finally semi-retired working at Town & Country until his diagnosis March 5, 2024.

George was predeceased by his parents, Rudolph Shetka, Sr & Christina (Holey) Shetka; his wife Marion Shetka; sisters, Gladys Bauer, Sylvia Trcka, Helen Heyda,Lucille Heyda, Betty Trnka, & Dora Jindra; brother, Rudolph Shetka, Jr.

George is survived by his daughter Wanda Hoop of Faribault; 3 grandsons, Shawn (Heather) Hoop of Faribault, Jeff (Kristine) Hoop of Las Vegas, Travis DuPont of Faribault; 3 great-granddaughters, Kelsey, Ara, Ava and 1 great-great-granddaughter Peyton; his sister Harriet Eisert of Montgomery & very special friend, Elaine Encinas.
