Obituary of Richard Francis Rivard

Beloved Dad, Grandpa & Great Grandpa At the age of 99 (two months away from 100), Dick passed peacefully on March 15, 2013 at The Pillars Hospice in Oakdale. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Helen; and two days after his death, by his only grandson Richard (Rick) Reibel whom he loved dearly. He is survived by his two daughters Susanne Reibel (Jim) and Frances Griffin; grandchildren Sara Samuels (Alex), Lisa Webb (Jody), Katie Reibel, and Amy Griffin; great grandchildren Elizabeth, Jimmy and Amanda. Dick lived for his family. He loved fishing (his passion), hunting, and traveling with his wife, Helen. He was a woodworker and made many cherished "heirloom" pieces for his family. Dick grew up in Vadnais Heights. During World War II he worked at the Marin Shipyards in Sausalito, CA as a "Dock 3" foreman. He enjoyed telling stories of his experiences and his family were avid listeners. Dick will be missed but his memories, his life lessons, and his legacy will live on forever. Memorial Service Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 11 AM at HOUSE OF PRAYER LUTHERAN CHURCH, 6039 - 40th St. N, Oakdale, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Private interment St. John's of Little Canada Cemetery. Special thanks to the HealthEast Hospice Team who became members of our family during Dick's final journey. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers. God Bless.
