Obituary of Amy Charlotte Stay

Amy was born December 12, 1919 in rural Benson, MN to Edwin & Emilie Evenson. She was the third of 11 children raised on the farm south of Benson in Swenoda Township. She was educated in the rural school close to her home. She was united in marriage to Louis H. Stay on January 27, 1943 at the Big Bend Parsonage. Louie & Amy spent their life farming in Swift County where Amy enjoyed her garden, cooking (especially Scandinavian foods), sewing and raising her family. In her later years, she enjoyed quilting, sewing treasured quilts for many members of her family. She passed away August 2, 2012 at the Ramsey County Care Center in Maplewood, MN. Amy lived a life of love and she will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her parents Edwin & Emily (Gilsrud) Evenson; sisters Viola Norby & Verna Myhre; brothers Orel, Floyd, Raynold & Lorando Evenson; husband Louis; & daughter Cheryl Jean. Survived by daughter Lois Johnson & son Randal (Lynn) Stay; 5 grandchildren Kimberly (Sheldon) Ziegler, Dion (Stacey) Johnson, Corey Johnson, Amy (Jeff) Pleimling, Matt (Sarah) Stay; 10 great grandchildren Henry, Eleanor, Sarah, Addy, Donia, Max, Annie, Nora, Lucy & Sam; sisters Violet Jerve, LaVina Evenson & Mardell (Keith) Kennedy; brother Dean (Shirley) Evenson; sisters-in-law Virginia, Marjorie & Carol Evenson, & Frances Danielson; many nieces, nephews, relatives & friends. Memorial Service Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 11:00 am at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 222 N. 5th St., Montevideo, MN, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Private interment in Mandt Lutheran Cemetery.
