Obituary of Roger D. Carlson

Age 88. Passed away on April 3, 2011 surrounded by family. Preceded in death by father John David Carlson and mother Gertrude Smith. Survived by his wife of 59 years Joan; sons Scott (Betsy) and Douglas; grandchildren Thomas & Margaret. Roger was born & grew up in St. Paul. He graduated from Marshall High School and the University of Minnesota with bachelor degrees in electrical engineering and business adminstration. Roger served in the Navy and was a member of the American Legion Post #39. During his career, Roger was a safety engineer in loss presention for most recently Great American Insurance Cos. During his life, he enjoyed bridge, golf, bowling, traveling and crossword puzzles. He will be deeply missed. Funeral Service Tuesday at 11:00 AM at ST. MARK'S EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2499 Helen St., No. St. Paul with visitation one hour before the servcie. Burial ceremony with military honors will follow the funeral.
