Obituary of Joseph B. Prettner

Whitey age 90 of Maplewood Passed away on 8/26/2012. Preceded in death by son Stephen, son-in-law David Ross, brother Raymond and sister Helen. Survived by loving wife of 65 years Ruth (Germain); children Joseph Jr. (Jody), Lloyd, Debbie Ross, Christine Schwartz (Mark), Kathy Smith and Mary Prettner (Thomas); 17 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters Lorraine Tiedens & Janet O'Connell and other relatives and friends. Whitey was born on 8/22/1922 and was raised on St. Paul's North End. He was a loving and hardworking husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather. He retired in 1987 after 31 years with the City of Maplewood. Whitey was also a skilled musician who played professionally for 50+ years on accordian, his amazing Cordovox and finally keyboards. He also was a talented baseball player and played professionally in the Brooklyn Dodgers minor league organization. Service Thursday (8/30) at 11:00 AM at CHURCH OF ST. PETER, 2600 Margaret Street, North St. Paul. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday from 4-8:00 PM at SANDBERG FUNERAL HOME, 2593 E. 7th Avenue, North St. Paul and one hour before the service at church on Thursday. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.
