Obituary of Karen Ann Fisk

Age 72 Longtime Mahtomedi Resident Passed away peacefully on October 31, 2012 at The Pillars Hospice. Special thanks to Christine, Mary, Sandy & Sue of HealthPartners Hospice; The Pillars staff & neighbor Donna for their loving & compassionate care. Karen was born Sept. 25, 1940 at the Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis to Lorenzo & Camille Wolgast. She attended Chisago Lakes Area Schools & graduated from Cadillac, MI High School. She worked in payroll for Remington Rand, Sperry & then Unisys. Travels included two Christmases in Hawaii, trips to Canada & annual trips to Cadillac. She retired from Unisys in 1990. In retirement, Karen & husband Jon spent eight winters on the gulf coast in Navarra Beach, FL. She loved the wildlife & scenic beauty of her home in Mahtomedi. Just outside her living room window were trophy bucks, does & fawns. It was cool to see deer bedded down in her yard & to watch the rut in all its glory. Hobbies included roller skating, downhill skiing, bowling, crafts, reading & jig saw puzzles. Crafts included Swedish weaving & embossed note cards. She sold her crafts, left many keepsakes in her home & enjoyed her time with other crafters. Preceded in death by parents Lorenzo & Camille; brother Jack Wolgast; very special aunt Lucille Benson of Cadillac; & beloved pet dog Cedar. Survived by loving husband of nearly 40 years, Jon; brother Jay Wolgast (Barbara); 2 nieces; 4 nephews; & many cousins. Private family interment at St. Croix Falls & private family & friends reception at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the donor's favorite charity in Karen's name. Rest in peace, we love you.
