James Glassel

Obituary of James Glassel

James Philip Glassel was born March 18, 1925 to William and Emma Glassel who farmed in the Clam Falls, Wisconsin area. James left high school in his sophomore year to help with the family farm. He married Marion French, the “enviable beauty who lived next door,” on May 19, 1946 and opened a part time radio service shop. He left the farm to find employment at the Great Northern Railroad to earn a better living for a growing family. Subsequently he took on a second job to become the original paint machine service technician. Later, James found a career servicing organs-- a dream come true as it combined two things that he loved -- music and electronics. James had excellent character and work ethic, repairing almost everything around the house and mowing the lawn and blowing the snow until a year before his death. James is preceded in death by Marion, his wife of 67 years, his parents William & Emma Glassel, his brother Lester, his sisters Carol, Gertrude and Mildred and is survived by his children Philip, Terry, Steven, Deborah and Tamara and his youngest sister Agnes. Funeral Service Tuesday (10/29) at 2:00 PM at SANDBERG FUNERAL HOME, 2593 E. 7th Avenue, North St. Paul with visitation Monday from 5:30-7:30 PM and one hour before the service on Tuesday. Interment Evergreen Memorial Garden. Memorials preferred to his granddaughter, Ron & Heidi Caasi, serving in Indonesia, gifts can be made out to GFF. James spoke often of the second coming of Christ. He cheerfully endured the pain of pancreatic cancer with a sweet demeanor, loving spirit and great humor. He died gracefully and compassionately; a true Christian gentleman to the end. He will be sorely missed!!
