Obituary of Robert Walter Weber

Age 80 of Oakdale. Died at home April 10, 2013. Following a long illness from the late effects of post poliomyelitis syndrome, as well as marginal zone lymphoma and was under hospice care. Bob was born November 1, 1932 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the son of now deceased Walter J. Weber who played football for and was employed by the University of Michigan for 30 years as an assistant football coach, tutor, entertaining national banquet speaker, and pre-game and halftime radio commentator, and Frances (Enders) Weber, who was a milliner, realtor, and loving, dedicated mother and wife. Bob was known and loved as a benevolent great guy, a leader, brilliant, valiant, comical and colorful. He was president of his junior class at Ann Arbor High School and received his B.S. and Master’s degrees in Education from the University of Michigan. He served in the Army for 2 years in 1954 & 1955 as a radio operator in Fort Carson, CO and was sent to troop information and education service school in Fort Slocum, NY. He was also on the Army wrestling team and traveled nationally with the team for meets. Bob’s career was in education beginning with Phys Ed. teaching and coaching football in elementary school for 3 years (9/59-6/62) in Holland, MI, Phys Ed instructing in Royal Oak High School for 21 years (9/62-6/82) serving as head wrestling coach, and then Royal Oak Elementary school teaching for 3 years (9/82-6/86) in Royal Oak, MI. He also did substitute teaching in FL for several years after retirement. Surviving are his beloved wife and caregiver of 36 years, Sue T Weber; dear son Paul F. of Clarkston, MI; dear daughter Lisa (Mrs. Chet Zar) of California; and 3 grandchildren. After Bob retired he and Sue thoroughly enjoyed living on Mackinac Island, MI, in Bradenton, FL, and in Oakdale, MN. Bob will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at Church of St. Peter, North St. Paul, MN at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 17, 2013
