My Grandma Bev was an amazing woman. Over the course of my life, she has always been a constant source of comfort and support. I remember spending several summers helping out in her large gardens which seemed to pop out of every nook around her house in North St. Paul. We would often plant beets, carrots, tomatoes, and zucchini together to the extent that I bragged to my friends that my grandma was an "urban farmer". Specifically, about four years ago one of my favorite memories with my grandma was discovering a zucchini nearly the size of my leg which we code-named "the weapon of mass destruction". When I talk to my other friends I realize how lucky I am to have my grandparents live so close, and I am very grateful that Grandma Bev made the sacrifice to leave the Wisconsin-Upper Peninsula area to live near me and my brother. Thank you for all the years of apple sauce, chocolate-chip muffins, picking me up from school, attending my music concerts, hugs, listening to my rants about history, and even the occasion threat of washing my mouth out with soap!
With love your grandson,
Peter Merrill
