Obituary of Patricia Ann Rydeen-Barnes

Patricia Rydeen-Barnes, 66, of Shoreview, MN, passed away on March 2nd, 2022 in St. Paul, MN. 

Patricia was born in St. Paul, MN to Edward and Marjorie Rydeen on February 23rd, 1956. She attended high school at North St. Paul High School where she met her future husband, Patrick Barnes. Patricia completed her undergraduate studies in Mathematics and Business at Augsburg University and earned her Master’s degree in Business from Mankato State University.  Her long career in information systems included positions at Cenex and Honeywell as well as thirty years at Land O’Lakes. Together with her husband and family, Patricia was actively involved in charities including Feed My Starving Children and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in her thirties, and fought her long battle with the disease with steadfast grace and courage. Patricia enjoyed sampling fine wines, reading mystery novels, trips to the family cabin built by her husband and father, and spending time with her grandchildren, who affectionately referred to her as ‘Gammy”.  

Patricia is preceded in death by her father, Edward Rydeen; mother, Marjorie Rydeen; brother, Thomas Rydeen (Kelly); mother- and father-in-law, William and Gertrude Barnes; and brother-in-law, William Barnes 

Patricia is survived by her husband, Patrick Barnes; daughter, Brianna Blake (Ryan); daughter, Kaitlin Sobieck (John); sister, Karen Lane; granddaughter, Naomi Sobieck; and granddaughter, Hattie Blake; close relatives, Jason and Crystal Sodren, Tom and Pam Barnes (Andrew, Becca, David, Gracie, Abraham), Mary and Terry Steinbach (Jill, Lucas, Jake), Jim and Christine Barnes (Alison, Hailey), Lisa Cantwell. 

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Incarnation Lutheran Church (4880 Hodgson Road, Shoreview, MN) with visitation one hour prior.
