Obituary of Jean Ann Kovars

Kovars, Jean A.

Jean Kovars, age 71, of Maplewood, MN, was called to her Heavenly home on Friday, June 23, 2023. She was born in Dodgeville, WI on November 14, 1951, the daughter of Donald and Frances (Harlan) Everson.  She was made a child of God through holy baptism at Fairview Lutheran Church in rural Avoca, WI on December 23, 1951, and confirmed in that faith on May 14, 1967.

She was raised on her parents’ dairy farm in Clyde Township and graduated from Dodgeville High School.  She attended Western Wisconsin Technical Institute in LaCrosse, WI receiving a degree in Medical Technology.  Jean was united in marriage to Douglas Kovars on April 14, 1973.  Together, they raised two daughters.

Her great passion was to care for her husband, children and grandchildren so she served many years as a homemaker for her family.  Her ability to beautify any space through sewing, furniture restoration, floral arrangements and more was boundless.  She loved to sew and made most of her girls’ clothes when they were young as well as making curtains for her and her daughters’ homes.  She was an excellent caregiver taking care of her grandmother in her final years.  In 1988 Jean and Doug became members of Divinity Lutheran Church on the east side of St. Paul.  In 2005, she became a flight attendant for Endeavor Airlines, retiring in 2018.  She dearly loved her grandchildren and was a master at doting on them.  Her devotion to her husband, children, and grandchildren was unceasing.  She was a trusted confidant to many and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband, Douglas Kovars of Maplewood, MN; her children, Sara Farrell (Philip Letourneau) of White Bear Township, MN, Teresa Kovars (Bobby)  grandsons James Fey (Grace) of Blaine, MN, Ronan,  great granddaughter Charlotte Fey, step grandchildren Austin Letourneau, Abby Letourneau and Kam & brothers, step great grandchildren Brantley Letourneau, Willow Letourneau, sister Mary Everson of McFarland, WI, brother Fred (Jeanette) Everson of South St. Paul, MN.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Christian Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Divinity Lutheran Church 1655 Cottage Ave. E. St. Paul, MN with visitation 2 hours prior to the service.  A luncheon will be served following the service in the Divinity Fellowship Hall.  In lieu of flowers the family has suggested that memorials may be made to Divinity Lutheran Church and New Day Pregnancy and Family Resource Center in Little Canada.
