Obituary of John H. Atchison
Atchison, John “Jack”
Born on May 1, 1939, passed away on June 25, 2023. Preceded in death by parents, Herman and Magdalena Atchison; daughter, Cathy; sister, Delores Rubbelke; and brothers-in-law, Wayne Sorensen, Richard Seng, and John Rubbelke. Survived by loving wife of 63 years, Doreen; children, Paul, David, and Lisa (Michael) Karcher; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Atchison (Clair McReynolds); sisters-in-law, Faith Seng and Genie Sorensen; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Of all the different employment opportunities he had during his life, he was most proud of serving as police officer for the City of Maplewood, from where he retired. He also served in the Minnesota Air National Guard. Jack has enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling, as well as boating and tubing down the Clam River near his cabin in Siren, Wisconsin. He loved people, especially his family and grandchildren. In his last years, Jack could be seen sitting on his front porch and visiting with anyone who passed by. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, at the Woodbury Lutheran Church – Oak Hill Campus (9050 60th St. N., Stillwater, MN 55082) at 2:00 PM with a visitation starting at 1:00 PM. The family wishes to thank the staff of The Pillars Hospice Home, Oakdale, MN for the wonderful and compassionate care given to him. Private interment Lakeview Cemetery, Mahtomedi.
