Michael J. Kochmann 

Michael J. Kochmann, age 74, Maplewood, MN., went to be with his Loving Lord on July 14, 2023. He passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving and heartbroken family, after a brief illness. Mike was born February 15, 1949, in Mahnomen, MN to Jerry and Violet Kochmann. He attended St. Michael’s Catholic School and graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1968. He moved to the Twin Cities and became employed by Metro Appliance Service. The company was later purchased by Ecolab Food and Equipment Services, which later became Smart-Care Solutions. Michael retired in 2019. Mike married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Maryann Broucek, on February 15, 1969, in Beaulieu, MN. They enjoyed their lake home on White Earth Lake, their many friends there, and fishing. Mike was very involved in music; he played the tenor and alto saxophone, and Maryann played the piano. They loved “jamming” together. Mike is survived by his wife of 54 years, Maryann; his daughter, Janet (Pat) Lenneman of St. Michael, MN; son, Chad (Lisa) Kochmann of St. Paul, MN; grandchildren, Andrew and Amanda Docken; mother, Violet Kochmann of Mahnomen Nursing Center; brothers, Myron Kochmann and Chuck (Kim) Kochmann of Mahnomen, MN and Brent (Stacy) Kochmann of Andover, MN; sisters, Marilynn (Miles) Coyle of Mahnomen and Texas, and Margaret (Rick) Kochmann of Brainerd, MN. Also survived by aunts, many cousins, and numerous friends.. Preceded in death by his grandparents, and father, Jerome Kochmann. Michael was a member of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Maplewood for 47 years, and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council 397. Mike was loved and admired by all who knew him. He was always there to help anyone who needed it, and did it with a cheerful smile without expecting anything in return. He was deeply loved by everyone and will be forever missed. Visitation from 4-7 PM on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at Sandberg Funeral Home (2593 E. 7th Avenue, No. St. Paul) with a time of sharing at 6 PM. Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, July 24, 2023 at 11 AM at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church (1725 Kennard St., Maplewood) with a visitation one hour prior to Mass.
