Obituary of Cleo Faye Howe

Cleo Howe (age 93)

Mounds View, MN – formerly of Prescott, WI

Date of Birth 8/25/1929

Date of Death 7/28/2023

Preceded in death by:  Husband Floyd, parents Ella Mae and Clarence Holter as well as her five sisters, Edna, Lori, Avis, Alice, and Phyllis.  Cleo is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Gerald Galloway), Penny (Robert Leder), and sons, Tony (Sharon) and Richard (Kelly).  Grandchildren:  Heidi, Casey, Lance, Trystan, Talitha, Tyrza, Truly Anna, Lexander, Holter, Maggie and Sam.  Step-Grandchildren:  Rebecca and Brianna.  And, 12 great-grandchildren.

Cleo was born in LaCrosse, WI where she graduated from high school and met her husband, Floyd.  Together they moved to St. Paul to start a new life and a family before moving to Prescott in 1958.  She resided in Prescott for nearly 60 years until 2017 when she moved into a senior living facility in Mounds View, MN.

After Floyd’s death in 1969 Cleo had to buckle down and raise four children ages 2 to 16 at the time.  With the help of family, friends, and neighbors she persisted on a thin budget and was able to keep her house.  Cleo was a regular at UCC church in Prescott and then later at New Life Church in Cottage Grove.  Cleo always volunteered at church and was leader of the 4-H Club for many years while her kids were involved.  She was a voracious reader.  She learned to read from her older sisters before she even started school.  She read the entire fiction section of the Prescott library and logged reading more than 35,000 books in her lifetime.
