Obituary of Duane Fred Quatmann

Quatmann, Duane Fred, beloved Husband, Father, Papa, age 87, of St. Paul passed away peacefully on October 2, 2023. Born November 16, 1935 to Ruth & Fred Quatmann, Duane grew up on St. Paul's East Side and attended Johnson High School where he met the love of his life, Marlene (Cookie) Thalhuber. They were married for 67 years and enjoyed 6 children, 17 grandchildren & 20 great-grandchildren. Duane loved his family with all his heart. His devotion to being an incredible husband, father and "Papa" inspired all the lives he touched. Duane worked at Hamm's Brewery and was a school bus driver for 1st Student. For 10 years Duane & Marlene owned a grocery store on Payne Ave, "Home Grocery", that they ran with their 6 children. He loved watching sports but his favorite past time was creating cherished memories with his family at "The Cabin". Above all else, Duane was strong in his faith. His family will miss him dearly but hold him forever in their hearts. Duane is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth & Fred. Survived by his Loving wife Marlene, Daughters Pam (Dan) Reitzel, Debbi (Jon) VerBurg, Bobbi (Mark) Spencer, Dee Dee (Ed) Hanson, Son David (Cindy Rood) Quatmann, Daughter Jackie (Kevin) Nordman, 17 Grandchildren, 20 Great-Grandchildren, Sister Claudette (Ray) Zietlow, Brother Don Quatmann. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday November 7, 2023 at 10:30am with visitation one hour prior at Transfiguration Catholic Church, 6133  15th St. N., Oakdale, MN. Private Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery.
