Obituary of Laurine Joan Sorensen
In Loving Memory of Laurine Toft Sorensen
March 30, 1932 - November 1, 2023
Age 91
Laurine Toft Sorensen, a cherished mother, devoted wife, and a kind-hearted friend, passed away on November 1, 2023, at the age of 91. Laurine was born on March 30, 1932, to her loving parents, Lillian Jensen Toft and Harvey Toft. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred B Sorensen, her siblings, Winston Toft and Marilyn Adkins, and she is survived by her sister, Janice Weeks. Laurine leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth in the hearts of her two children, Lynne Smith (Mike Smith)and Kristine Sorensen, grandchildren Travis Oestreich (Darcy Oestreich) and Sara Comforti (Doug Comforti) and 5 great-grandchildren Lucy, Violet, Ella, Tessa and Aria.
Laurine's life was marked by the roles she embraced with unwavering dedication. She was a devoted secretary, a loving wife, and a nurturing mother. Her career as a secretary brought her many close friends and she was most proud of her tenure at Lakewood Community College where she worked for more than 10 years. As a wife, she was the steadfast companion of her late husband, Alfred, and as a mother, she poured endless love and care into raising her daughters.
Outside of her roles, Laurine found great joy in life as a painter and square dancer. She was also a devoted friend who enjoyed visiting and spending quality time with her loved ones. Her quiet disposition and deep kindness endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In her final days, Laurine was surrounded by friends and loved ones. She embraced the simple pleasures of life - music, ice cream, wine, and the company of her dear ones.
And as the first snow of the season fell, she made peace with the life she had lived.
Before her death she reunited with loved ones who had gone before her. She expressed her love, bid farewell, and, in her own way, conveyed her readiness to move on.
Laurine, you will forever hold a special place in our hearts, and your legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire us. Rest in peace. You are loved and will be dearly missed.
