Obituary of Gloria Jean Schemitsch

Gloria Jean Schemitsch (nee Tinkham, Haas) peacefully passed away at the age of 83 on November 9, 2023, in Maplewood, Minnesota. She was born on July 14, 1940, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Kenneth Haas and Evelyn Curry (Haas-Hovey).

Gloria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She married Dennis Tinkham on March 26, 1960, and together they had two daughters, Lynn (Jim) Doppler and Tracy (Dale) Meyers. While they both went onto remarry, Gloria and Dennis remained in touch throughout their lives. In 1979, she found love again and married Charles Schemitsch on August 7, 1982. Gloria and Chuck enjoyed their retirement years in Florida, creating cherished memories as they explored the beauty of the states. Gloria faced the challenges of glaucoma and vision loss with unwavering strength and resilience. When her vision deteriorated, she and Chuck made the decision to move back to Minnesota to be closer to family. Throughout her life, Gloria exemplified kindness and grace, always seeing the good in people and leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Gloria is survived by her loving husband, Charles Schemitsch, her daughters, Lynn and Tracy, as well as her stepchildren, Steve (Laura), Rob Schemitsch, and Laurie Lee. She is also survived by her siblings, Marlene (Mike) Tangen, Don (Vicki) Haas, and Debbie Savageau. Gloria will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Dennis (Angie) Scharffbillig, Abbie (Joe) Drews, Joshua (Chelsea) Meyers, and her step-grandchildren, Brittany and Brooke Schemitsch, Dylan and Parker Lee, Jacob, Hunter, and Izabella Schemitsch. Her memory will also be cherished by her great-grandchildren, Cody Scharffbillig, Karlie Drews, and Asha, Ellis, and Jaycee Meyers, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Gloria dedicated 23 years of her life to serving others at Gillette Children's Hospital before retiring. She found joy in her hobbies, which included hiking, gardening, and spending quality time with her family.
