Obituary of Gordon Lee Peterson

Gordon Lee Peterson (Gordy), 82, of No. St. Paul Minnesota passed away on December 30, 2023, at home after a courageous yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer.  Gordy was preceded in death by his parents Arvid and Orvella Peterson and half-brother Harlan Hozerland. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Dawn M. Peterson, children Mark, Jeff, and Cherie (Kyle) Bertelsen; grandchildren Isaac (Kayla) Barden, Rebekah (Alexander) Green, Brock, Chet, and Tate Bertelsen and Christopher & Jaylynn Peterson. Great grandchildren; Emilia & Olivia Green. 

Gordy was born on September 22, 1941.  After Gordy graduated from Murray High School in St. Paul Minnesota he then went to Hamline University and received his bachelor's degree.  Gordy then went on to get his MBA from Indiana University in 1965.  Gordy landed a job at 3M and spent 34 years in various managerial positions in Information Technology.  He was active in the North St. Paul Jaycees, St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 3M Quarter Century Club, and the 3M Mens Golf Club. He also enjoyed going to the YMCA to play racquetball along with being an avid bowler.  

Gordy and Dawn were married in 1963.  After Gorday’s retirement, they enjoyed cheering on their grandchildren at sporting events, traveling for pleasure and educationally with 7 trips to Europe and 50+ Road Scholar trips in the U.S. 

Celebration of Life service will be on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2499 N. Helen St. North St. Paul, with visitation one hour prior. 

In place of flowers,  the family requests donations be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
