Obituary of Annette VonWald

Annette Vonwald, age 67, of Hastings, MN, passed away on July 18, 2023, in her home from glioblastoma. She was born on February 20, 1956, in St. Paul, MN, to Juanita (Jennie) Obitz and the late John Ortez. Annette was a loving wife to Dave Vonwald and a cherished mother to her four daughters: Dondie, Denise (Charlie), Sarah (Andrew), and Sonya. She was also a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren: Cindel, Mace, Tyler, Olivia, Edward, Sophia, Ava, Alex, Samuel, Selena, and Milla, as well as a great-grandchild named LaMar. 

Annette had a fulfilling career as a Certified Dental Assistant for over 20 years. She was admired for her dedication and expertise in her field. Annette graduated from Park High School and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Rosemount, where she worshipped. 

She enjoyed various hobbies. She had a passion for diamond art and found joy in creating beautiful pieces. She also volunteered as a church camp counselor and dedicated her time to the youth group, making a positive impact on the lives of many. She loved music of many kinds, and it gave her peace. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, taking out of the country trips, vacationing with family, playing card games and laughing.  

A memorial service to celebrate Annette's life will be held on August 10th at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Rosemount. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Annette's life. Annette will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. 

Annette is preceded in death by her brother, John "Tiny", and her fathers, John Obitz and John Ortez. She is survived by her mother, Juanita (Jennie) Obitz, and her ten siblings: Ralph (Lori), Nita (Mike "Burnsie"), Louie, Mike, Rick (Terri), Ann (Leo), George (Jen), Johnny (Nancy), Denise (Tim) and Aleta.  

Annette Vonwald will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her impact on the lives of those she touched will be cherished forever. May she rest in peace. Please join us in honoring and remembering the life of Annette Ortez Vonwald.
